Solo Glamping at Catgill: Enjoy a Break Your Way

Going away on your own can be a brilliant way to properly switch off. There is no need to agree on plans, work around anyone else’s schedule, or worry about keeping everyone entertained. You can wake up when you want, head out for a walk, spend an afternoon exploring the Yorkshire Dales or simply sit outside with a coffee and enjoy the view.

Solo travel gives you something that can be difficult to find in everyday life: time that is completely your own. You can make plans as you go, change your mind halfway through the day and spend as much time outdoors as you like.

Glamping makes it particularly easy. You still get that feeling of being away from home and surrounded by nature, but with a comfortable space to come back to at the end of the day.

If you have been thinking about trying a solo glamping break, Catgill is a lovely place to slow down, explore and enjoy a few days at your own pace.

Enjoy Having Time to Yourself

Perhaps the biggest appeal of a solo break is having no one else to plan around.

You can have a slow breakfast, decide where you fancy going for the day, stop for coffee whenever you like and come back when you are ready. There is no pressure to fit everything in or worry about whether everyone else is enjoying themselves.

You might spend the morning walking around the Yorkshire Dales, have lunch somewhere nearby and then spend the afternoon relaxing back at your accommodation.

Or you might barely make any plans at all.

Sometimes that is exactly what you need.

Choose Your Own Glamping Experience

Our glamping accommodation gives you a comfortable base with proper beds, heating, a kitchenette, WiFi and your own outdoor space.

The timber pods and bell tents also have private wood fired hot tubs and fire pits, so you can enjoy plenty of time outside before settling down somewhere comfortable in the evening.

Our glamping area is separate from the main campsite too, creating a quieter setting where you can properly relax and enjoy your surroundings.

If you are curious about the site before arriving, our virtual tour gives you a good feel for the accommodation, facilities and surrounding area.

Explore the Yorkshire Dales at Your Own Pace

One of the best things about staying at Catgill is having so much countryside on the doorstep.

A solo break gives you the freedom to explore it however you like. You could head out for a longer walk, take a gentle stroll around Bolton Abbey, find a quiet spot beside the River Wharfe or spend the afternoon exploring some of the nearby villages.

There is no need to turn it into a full day of activities either. One good walk followed by a coffee and somewhere scenic to sit can be more than enough.

And if you wake up the next morning and fancy doing something completely different, you can.

Make Time for the Little Things

When you are away with other people, it is easy to focus on what comes next.

A solo trip gives you a chance to slow down and enjoy the smaller moments.

Take a book outside in the morning. Sit with a coffee and listen to the birds. Spend an hour in the hot tub without having to rush anywhere. Cook something simple and enjoy it outside.

These are not necessarily the things you would plan a whole holiday around, but they can end up being the moments you remember most.

Bring Your Dog Along

Solo does not necessarily have to mean completely alone.

If your dog is part of the family, bringing them along can make the trip even more enjoyable. There are plenty of walks and open countryside to explore together, and it is hard to beat having a four legged companion beside you while discovering somewhere new.

We have dog friendly accommodation available, with selected pods offering enclosed outdoor areas and thoughtful extras for four legged guests.

A long walk together followed by a quiet evening back at your pod sounds like a pretty good way to spend a few days.

Everything You Need Close By

Although getting away from everyday life is part of the appeal, it is nice to have a few useful things close by when you need them.

We have an on site Reception Shop where you can pick up snacks, drinks, essentials and a few things to keep you entertained without having to leave the farm.

Then there is Cat’s Kitchen, where you can enjoy barista made coffee, freshly baked pastries and stone baked pizzas. It is an easy option when you fancy something to eat without having to plan a trip into town.

Our wider camping and glamping facilities also include shower facilities, charging lockers, a kitchen wash up area, fire pits and BBQ stands.

It means you can enjoy the freedom of a solo trip without having to overthink the practical side of things.

Let the Weather Change Your Plans

One of the joys of having nowhere you need to be is being able to change your plans.

Yorkshire weather can be unpredictable, so you might set off in the sunshine and find yourself reaching for a waterproof jacket later in the afternoon.

If the weather is looking good, make the most of it and head out into the countryside. If it turns wet, come back to Catgill, make a coffee, pick up a book and enjoy a slower afternoon.

There is no need to force yourself to follow an itinerary.

A Few Simple Comforts Go a Long Way

There is no perfect packing list for a solo glamping trip. Bring the things that make you feel relaxed.

That might be a good book, headphones, a camera, your favourite snacks or a notebook if you enjoy writing. Comfortable clothes are always useful, as is a decent pair of walking shoes if you plan to explore the surrounding countryside.

You could even bring a board game or card game for a quiet evening, although you might find yourself spending more time outside than you expected.

Relax, Unwind and Enjoy the Space

There is something quite refreshing about waking up somewhere beautiful and knowing the day is entirely yours.

You can spend the morning exploring, come back for a hot tub, head out again for dinner or simply stay put and enjoy the peace and quiet.

There is no pressure to make the most of every minute.

A solo glamping break at Catgill is really about giving yourself permission to slow down. Enjoy the Yorkshire Dales, spend some time outdoors, make the most of the little comforts around you and, most importantly, do exactly what you want to do.

Sometimes a few days away with nothing to worry about other than where to go for your next walk is just what you need.
